Miss Earth winning streak for Philippines breaks

The winning streak record of Philippines for Miss Earth turns to end as Miss Earth Philippines Imelda Schweighart did not make it to the finals.
From eighty-three, the candidates were narrowed down to 16 during the coronation night of the said pageant at the Mall of Asia Arena, October 29.
This event breaks the Philippines’ winning streak as Jamie Herrell and Angelina Ong won as Miss Earth 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Schweighart experienced an eventful season for Miss Earth who was in the headlines recently for telling Austria’s representative that President Duterte is doing “Hitler stuff” in the country.
Hitler was compared to Duterte for his massacre of the Jews to his controversial war on drugs, creating criticisms from people. Imelda’s comment about Duterte went viral and expressed her apologies right after.
