Archbishop Villegas says the late Marcos need prayers

A prayer rally was conducted in Dagupan City last November 23, 2016 in Dagupan city to show opposing views to the hero’s burial given to the late President Ferdinand Marcos.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas, the resident bishop firmly said in his speech that the late president needs prayer instead of a hero’s burial.

In his opening statement, Villegas shared the dying wish of Sta. Monica which is to be buried in a humble place, no more else.

He further said that to bury a dead person is a sacred tradition for Christians, and it doesn’t matter if where this person will be buried. In addition, burying a person should be equipped with prayers so that he or she would find his peace in heaven not in his grave alone.

The archbishop also called the attention of the late president’s family to avoid using the death of their father for their dreams and political ambition.
