Diokno Son: Marcos at LNB is ‘a tragedy and a farce’

Supreme Court ruling to allow late President Ferdinand Marcos to lay to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNB) draw mixed emotions and opinion from spectators.

The son of the late opposition Senator and human rights advocate Jose “Ka Pepe” Diokno described the burial of the dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the LNB as a tragedy and a farce.

In a statement sent to Philippine Daily Inquirer, Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno said the high tribunal’s decision to allow Marcos’ interment should not silence those who know the truth.

“It should make us more determined to set the record straight, lest history repeat itself,” Diokno added.

At present, Diokno is the dean of the De La Salle university College of Law and serves as the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) chairman.

Marcos ordered an arrest for the late Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino and Ka Pepe Diokno, both opposition leaders, after Martial law was declared and Congress shut down.

These opposition leaders were placed in secluded detention at Fort Magsaysay in Laur, Nueva Ecija.
