The story was published on a popular Tian Ya Yi Du forum by a girl with the screen name Proud Qiaoba about her friend Xiali who asked iPhone from each of her 20 lovers to buy her newly popularized iPhone 7.

Xiaoli (screen name) who is from southern Shenzhen was able to raise an amount as she sold the 20 iPhones collected from her 20 boyfriends for 115,010 yuan or $23,571 to a mobile recycling site called Hui Shou Bao.

The girl surprised Proud Qiaoba and her friends when she showed them her new abode and revealed how she raised the money, BBC said.

In a post, Proud Qiaoba said “Everyone in the office is talking about this now Who knows what her boyfriends think now this news has become public.”

According also to Proud Qiaoba, Xiaoli is the eldest daughter of a housewife and a migrant worker.

“Her parents are getting old and she might be under a lot pressure hoping to buy them a house… But it’s still unbelievable that she could use this method!” Proud Qiaoba added.

Netizens on Weibo have expressed their awe at Xiaoli’s activity and the ability to compel all her 20 boyfriends to buy her an iPhone 7 while dealing with the fact that it was only launched last September 16.

This issue with a hashtag ’20 mobiles for a house’ (translated in Chinese) went viral on Weibo and became China’s top trending topic with a usage of 13 million times.

One of the netizens named “small sand is growing” wrote that she can’t even find one boyfriend, the girl can actually find 20 boyfriends at the same time and even get them to buy her an iPhone 7. She also added she want to ask and teach skills from the girl.

Meanwhile, another netizen named Little Bee said Xiaoli was the most shameless person and some also suspected that the whole story is being used as a marketing strategy by mobile phone recycling business Hui Shou Bao.

A confirmation from BBC stated the company purchased 20 iPhones from a female client last first week of October for 5,750 yuan for each.
