Duterte’s order intended to discipline Robredo not to remove her says palace

Different speculations came out when Vice President Leni Robredo tendered her resignation letter from her cabinet post, however the palace has something to say about it.


Malacañang said President Rodrigo Duterte’s purpose in to impose discipline to Vice President Leni Robredo when he ordered her to barred from cabinet meetings.

On Monday, December 5, Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said that the issuance of directive was on Robredo’s account for her public expressions of dissent on administration policies.

"You can hold your private opinions about that but I think your public expression should be consistent with the administrative policy," he said.

Abella added that Duterte’s last resort was to discipline the vice president as he said that the president got fed up over Robredo’s action.

However, the palace opted not to elaborate the specification of the “irreconcilable differences” between the two officials.

For the record, Robredo boldly expressed her opposed view on the hero’s burial granted to the late President Marcos and criticizing Duterte’s war on drugs.
