WATCH: CIA documents reveal late Cory Aquino might have requested an airstrike from US to kill opposition to her government

A Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) document disclosed news reports that late President Cory Aquino asked for help from the United States of America to shut down mutineers led by Col. Greogrio Honasan and other soldiers loyal to the late Ferdinand Marcos.


The said documents were also shown in CNN and BBC news and published in a website called Mindavote which was discovered by Carlos Munda.

According to the document, Aquino asked for U.S. assistance to crush the rebels who wanted to topple her government by using F-4 Phantom Jets.

“Last Friday, Aquino asked for US assistance in crushing the most serious attempt to oust her from power. US warplanes provided air cover to allow Philippine forces to attack the rebels,” the document stated.

The documents also gave emphasized 12 opposition congressmen condemned the action of United States of America and the Aquino government for asking military assistance from a foreign power.

As per the record, the late President Aquino faced six attempts to oust her from her seat and the most serious attempt was recorded during December 1989.

THE LOS ANGELES TIMES AND THE WASHINGTON POST REPORTED LAST WEEKEND THAT THE AQUINO GOVERNMENT ASKED FOR AIR STRIKES BUT U.S OFFICIALS REFUSED BECAUSE OF POLITICAL RISKS IN KILLING FILIPINOS.

RAMOS TOLD REPORTERS THAT U.S. AMBASSADOR NICHOLAS PLATT OFFERED U.S HELP TO AQUINO “IN VERY GENERAL TERMS.” RAMOS SAID AQUINO TOLD PLATT TO DISCUSS THE OFFER WITH MILITARY OFFICIALS.  “FRANKLY, I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED ON THE VOLUNTARY OFFER ON THE PART OF THE U.S. GOVERMENT TO PROVIDE US ASSISTANCE,” RAMOS SAID.

ON MONDAY, OPPOSITION MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE FILED A RESOLUTION ” CONDEMNING (THE UNITED STATES) IN THE STRONGEST TERMS POSSIBLE AS UNNECESSARY AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL” FOR ASSISTING MILITARILY. THE RESOLUTION FILED BY 12 OPPOSITION CONGRESSMEN, CALLED THE REQUEST BY THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT ” A SHAMELESS ACT OF SURRENDER OF SOVEREIGNTY TO A FOREIGN POWER.”
