Here's why Duterte won't attend Trump's inauguration

President Rodrigo Duterte will not be able to witness the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump according to Malacañang on January 15.

Presidential Cimmunications Opetations Office Secretary Martin Andanar confirmed that the President won't be able to make it because it is not mandatory to attend a domestic event like the said inaugurarion even if it is the United States.

Instead of Duterte, Andabar said that it would the ambassador of the Philippines that will represent the country.

"Ang representative  po ng Pilipinas sa Trump ay ang head of mission or yung ambassador po ng Pilipinas to the United States of America," he added.

Despite the cold war between Duterte and outgoing President Barack Obama, he congratulated Trump on his victory in November 2016 and even had a telephone conversation few weeks later.

In the said conversation, the incoming president invited Duterte for a coffee if he will visit Washington or New York.
