Pangilinan slams Bato for punishing erring cops with push-ups

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan criticized Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa using his social media accounts on on the punishment of erring police officers tagged in the robbery-extortion of Korean tourists.

Using Facebook and Twitter, Pangilinan said it was “madness” that suspected drug offenders ended up dead while erring policemen were only punished executing push-ups.

“Push-ups ang ipinakitang kaparusahan sa pitong akusadong pulis sa kasong robbery at extortion ng mga Koreano sa Angeles. Robbery at extortion ang kaso. Sa harap ng media, hindi sila kinulong, hindi sila dinis-armahan, hindi sila pinosasan,” Pangilinan said.

The LP senator also said the push ups were done in front of media which put a heavier damage to the image of PNP.

“Kapag mahirap na 'nanlaban' na addict, pinapatay. Kapag abusadong kriminal na pulis, pinag pu-push up. Anong klaseng kabaliwan ito?” he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the PNP Chief lambasted Angeles policemen who were tagged of arresting three Korean tourists in December to get money from them, and told them to do push ups.
