DENR Sec Lopez apologize for cursing at a reporter

Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Gina Lopez apologized after her foul word remarks to a reporter, April 11.


In an audio recording of an ambush interview conducted by environment and agriculture beat reporter Janina Lim, Lopez labeled her as “a f***cking employee. Later on, the report threw out questions to the secretary about her recent order to mining firms for the provision of trust funds for the farmlands affected by the mining activities.

Lopez admitted that she was trying o impart her point of view to Lim, adding that she has no right to drag any people down for any reason. She added that Lim was “inordinately judgmental.”

"To Janina and to everyone, this might have hurt … I apologize deeply," the secretary said.

On the other hand, Lopez also emphasized that asking questions is a way to move forward, however it is counter productive when it comes form a closed mind.

"There are so many journalists and economists with deep intuitive minds, objectivity with integrity, compassion with vision – that kind of standard will bring the country forward," Lopez said.

The DENR secretary shared she has a big respect for economists, journalists, and the press and even convinced them to keep the light shining brightly for the country.
