Beauty Queens Viewpoint on President Duterte’s Judgment on Appointments

Miss Universe-Philippines Rachel Peters had her share of opinion on Mocha Uson’s appointment as assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO). “Well, she hasn’t started yet. And so, I believe everyone should be given a chance. You cannot judge a book by its cover, that’s something my parents taught me that is still in my mind”, said Peters, referring to the critics of Uson.

She also encouraged Filipinos to trust President Rodrigo Duterte’s judgment when it comes to appointments for it is him who know what is best for the Philippines.

On the other hand, her co-finalist Bb. Pilipinas-International Mariel de Leon stated on her tweeter account a blunt contrast of judgment – questioning and judging Uson’s appointment.

“Biased and disrespectful. She insults those who are against her. I’m not for her, I’m not for the other side (whatever that may be),” she had tweeted.

“I love my country so it breaks my heart to know someone like her got a position in the gov’t. There are so many [other] unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place”, said another tweet.

Such statements from de Leon angered the supporters of Uson, which made her reflected by an apology and removing of her posts afterwards.
