Duterte feels ISIS isn't responsible for Marawi Clash, it is drug lords

President Rodrigo Duterte said the Marawi siege was connected to drug lords who re hiding behind ISIS-linked group to protect their negotiations.

"Hindi purely yan. It would be a lie to say that puro ISIS na yan sa Marawi ngayon. Ang puno't duko diyan is droga kasi diyan ang hotbed ng shaby pati drug sa Mindanao," said Duterte in his speech in Sulu.

The president believes that it all started from drugs, and now that productio is decreasing, they vent on terrorism and arms.

‘Nong nagkaipitan na, they went to the revolutionaries, pretended to fight for Islam to seek protection. And now they are proclaiming to be jihadists for protection,” said Duterte.

He also claimed that drug lords based in Buldon, Maguindanao reached out to the Maute Group. He said the Mautes in turn pretended to be connected with the Abu Sayyaf faction led by Isnilon Hapilon, who has also pledged allegiance to ISIS.

Duterte further said that this war is all about Islam. These Islamic officials were good for nothing as they were just there to make money.
