Duterte says he would consider resigning if BBM or Cayetano won as VP

Former Senator Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. or BBM could have been the country’s next president if he won the 2016 vice presidential race.

This has been the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte during his speech before the soldiers in Jolo, Sulu, emphasizing he could’ve considered resigning from his post if Marcos or his running mate, Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano won.

‘Hindi ako diktador, gusto ko na rin magpahinga. Kaya kung nanalo lang ‘yan si Marcos pati si Cayetano, siguro I would have entertained of resigning na. Pero kung ganito ang sitwasyon, eh matanda na ako eh,” he said.

On the other hand, Duterte admitted he should have thought seriously of running for the presidential seat due to his age. But he was motivated to do so because nobody among the presidential candidates talked about the Mindanao.

“Walang kandidato narinig ninyo noong kampanya na talking about the seriousness of Mindanao. Eh taga-Mindanao ako, mayor ako for 23 years sa Davao, congressman, vice mayor ako ng anak ko,” he added.

Marcos has already filed a protest before the PET questioning the victory of Vice President Leni Robredo. He has paid already his share for the recount.
