House committee chairman for justice tells why Duterte impeachment complaint will be put to trash

House Committee on Justice chairman Oriental Mindoro Representative Reynaldo Umali himself said they will dispose the impeachment case filed against President Rodrigo Duterte.

In an interview with DZMM on May 9, Umali stated reason that the complaint might be discarded for the Supermajority is pro-Duterte which is still growing in strength.

The declaration of Liberal Party members in the Supermajority not to support any impeachment moves in the House of Representatives is also a factor according to the representative.

“Going by pronouncements in particular of LP, and the Supermajority na lalong lumalakas pa. Tingin ko hindi tayo magtatagal dyan,” Umali said.

The impeachment complaint was filed by Magdalo Party list Rep. Gary Alejano will also be tackled by the Justice panel next week, he added

On the other hand, Umali gave a hint that the PDP-Laban led aministration coalition would swiftly defeat the complaint in voting.

Oriental Mindoro Representative added that Rep. Rodito Albano, fmer stalwart of the  NacionalistaParty was sworn in as a PDP-Laban member.

The Commission on Appointments named Albano as PDP Laban's rep replacing Davao Del Norte Rep. Tonyboy Floirendo.

Earlier, LP member Deputy Speaker Miro Quimbo said his party mates in the supermajority won't back up any impeaccment at theHOR calling them divisive and polarizing.
