Asec Uson says through social media, masses will get closer to gov’t

Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary for Social Media Margaux ‘Mocha’ Uson said the internet is the most powerful media tool today.

Despite the fact she always receive criticism because of her sometimes controversial posts, Uson says she will still use social media to make the government accessible to the public especially those who are disadvantaged.

Uson became controversial after posting a photo with a caption which talks about martial law.

In an interview with the program Get it Straight, Uson simplifies her reason why she reposted a controversial picture.

“First, I did not upload the photo. Second, I saw it from my fellow supporters. I said the caption was good because it’s a Bible verse about bowing down on our knees. That’s why I shared it. I wanted to pray for our soldiers,” said Uson.

The PCOO Asec believes in the potential of social media on how it influence the society today. At present, she has more than five million social media followers.

She shared a story on how the government was able to help an OFW through the social media.

“Did you know that because of social media, we were able to help a lot of people? First is our OFWs. They can’t ask for help from others because in embassies their concerns are not acted upon at once,” Uson added.

On the other hand, Mocha admits that she is holding a position in the Duterte administration which carries a great responsibility.

The former sexy actress says she will do her best to perform well in order to address the advocacies of President Rodrigo Duterte.
