Duterte sorry for declaring martial law, promises Marawi will be beautiful again

President Rodrigo Duterte said his apologies for resorting to harsh actions in dealing with the terrorist group in Marawi City including his declaration of Martial law in Mindanao.

The president plead to Maranao people to forgive his soldiers, the government and even himself for declaring martial law in his speech before the families who fled to Iligan from the war zone.

"I would like to say to the Maranao people that I am very, very sorry na nangyari ito sa atin. Sana kung madaling panahon, you will find a new heart to forgive my soldiers, ang gobyerno, pati ako for declaring martial law. Wala akong choice eh, sinisira ang Marawi," said Duterte.

Rody added that he has no choice and needs to drive them out of from Marawi.

"I have to drive them out. But I am very sorry. Paki-abot na lang doon sa mga kapatid nating mga Maranao na ang aking paghihinnakit rin sa nangyari na ito. Patawarin ninyo po kami."

On the other hand, the President promised to start rehabilitation process in Marawi after resolving the crisisi.

"Gaganda yan ulit, gaganda ulit yan."

He said he will set aside 20 billion as initial fund to start the rehabilitation process.

"But this I will promise you, I will set aside initially 20 billion para maumpisahan, yung mga mahirap ang unahin ko. Most important thing is that matulungan ko kayo. Huwag kayong mag-alala, tutulungan ko kayo, hindi ko kayo pababayaan, hanggang relocation," he concluded.
