Terror attack? Bato negates the Resorts World shooting is a terror act

Philippine National Police Chief Director Geenral Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said the terrorism speculations of people regarding  Resorts World Manila in which two people died and 54 was left injured isn’t true.

Dela Rosa in front of reporters outside the area of incident said it is possible that the gunman was looking to rob a casino, and the suspect didn’t even appear to shoot although he has rifle in his possession.

“Walang incident na namaril siya. Pumasok lang siyang armado, pumunta sa storage room ng chips at niransack niya. So there is robbery angle. Wala siyang sinaktan even ‘yung lady guard na humabol sa kanya. Nagpaputok siya pero ang binaril niya yung LED monitor at pintuan ng storage room ng chips,” he said.

The PNP Chief also emphasized that if the gunman were a terrorist as what the ISIS like, he could have been strapped bombs from his body instead of setting himself on fire.

“Hindi ito act of terror. Kung ISIS siya dapat namaril siya. Kung meron siyang plano na patayin ang sarili niya instead na sunugin ang sarili, nag-strap siya ng bomba sa sarili niya,” he said.

Bato also said the international group could claim the attack as theirs as propaganda, bu the PNP will not declare the incident as terror-related.
