VP Leni thanks US for their help vs Maute: No country can face its problems alone

Vice President Leni Robredo thanked United States Government for extending help to the military in the ongoing operations against Maute terrorist group as she also emphasized the importance of keeping good relations with the international community.

In an interview in Taysan, Batangas, the VP gave stressed that the US government is there to help in times of need.

“We thank not just them (US) but all those who are providing assistance to us. This is the essence of community of nations, in times of need they help each other,”  said Robredo.

She also added that no country can face its problems alone. “No country can face all its problems alone, that’s why it is important that we cultivate this kind of relationship."

The country received assistance after President Rodrigo Duterte became hostile towards the said government.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines confirmed receiving technical assistance from the US in their operations against the Maute terrorist which attacked Marawi City on May 23.

Duterte, who has declared martial law in the entire Mindanao, has said he did not seek help from the US, but was nevertheless thankful for the assistance.
