Authorities arrested the former mayor of Marawi City at a police checkpoint in Barnagay San Martin, Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental, while on his way to his residence, June 7.


Former Mayor Fahad Salic was arrested by the police by virtue of an arrest warranat against him for his alleged involvement in the Marawi rebellion.

But the ex-local chief denied the allegation saying he has no knowledge about it.

“I am not involved in that (Marawi siege). I’ve been in Manila even before the trouble in Marawi started,” said Salic at the Criminal Investigation and Detention Group.

When asked starighly about his involvement, he denied it again.

“Hindi ko po alam, hindi ko po kilala kung sino ang nagplano,” he added.

He also denied accusation that he is involved in nacro-politics.

“When that news came out, I personally went to the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional office to clear my name. In fact, I signed a waiver that I am willing to be investigated. Until now, I cannot find any reason why I have been implicated in illegal drugs,” Salic said in the vernacular.

Salic is currently detained at the CIDG office inside Camp Evangelista, Patag.
