Duterte facing the families of slain soldiers in Marawi said he will return to Marawi City before the war will end.

Magdasal lang kayo… at magbalik siguro ako doon bago matapos,” Duterte said.

He emphasized he doesn't want to be a generic politician who only goes to the area after the war.

I’ll go there,” he said.

After two failed attempts due to bad weather, the President made a visit in Marawi City last July 20 to console them and to boost their morale while fighting against the rebels.

Duterte also encouraged the soldiers to be strong in fighting for the country as he pledged support in terms of their equipment, compensation, and housing benefits.
