Pacquiao, second highest official visiting Marawi troops

Senator Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao visited the government troops in Marawi City on Saturday Morning, July 29.

The senator who is also a reserve officer of the Philippine Army who ranks as Lieutenant Colonel, arrived in his full military suit at Camp Ranao with his staff to receive a security briefing from military officials.

After the close door meeting, Pacquiao had a dialogue with the soldiers to boost their morales and show his support to them.

“Ipinaglalaban nyo ang ating bansa. Hindi kayo nagkakasala kahit pumatay kayo ng tao. Hindi kayo nagkakasala sa mata ng Panginoon dahil ginagampanan ninyo ang inyong trabaho," said Pacquiao in his speech.

The boxer turned to a lawmaker also distributed assistance to the troops based in war zone.

Pacquiao's visit came as the military pursued offensives against remnants of the Maute terror group believed to remain in two barangays in the city.
