The senator made the assessment when he was asked to evaluate the first year in office of President Rodrigo Duterte amidst the critics' statement that his first year became 'stormy'.

"Stormy kung involved ka sa illegal drugs. Noong panahon ni Former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in-addresan niya ang drug problem," said Sotto.

Sotto added that after GMA's term, drug problem was never been addressed up to 2016.

"pero pagkatapos ng 2010, wala na. Nakalimutan na. Completley, napabayaan yung illegal drugs hangang 2016."

Ex-President Aquino succeeded Arroyo on 2010 and Rody took over last June 2016.

"Kaya kahit di kapartido at naturingan kaming ally ng presidente, natutuwa ako sa nagawa niya sa isang taon," Sotto added.

On the other hand he also commented on the martial law and illegal drugs. "At yung issue ng illegal drugs at terrorism, di napabayaan. Sinasagupa ng head on."

he has also slammed the people who keep on saying negative thoughts about the war on illegal drugs of Duterte.

"Ang nagsasalita siguro niyan, di nakakaintindi ng problema ng illegal drugs."

"Ako, 1987 pa nilalabanan ko yan. Ang backbone ng illegal drug sa Pilipinas yung drug pusher. Kaya kailangan talaga i-address," he concluded.
