VP Robredo feels proud of her office's achievements

She might be a controversial item since the time she took her seat however, Vice President Leni Robredo remains proud of her office for its achievements.

Her first year as vice president allowed her to take her anti-poverty program throughout the country and made her to visit 80 communities with almost P52.72 million worth of resources for 36,046 individuals and P22.75 families.

“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved — from 50 pilot LGUs (local government units) in 2016, we’re now at 134. But we all know, we can’t rest,” she said.

The vice president believes that there are more needs to be done because there are so many of our fellow Filipinos that continue to be left out.

Since her first day in office, Robredo visited a place to another to reach out the poor communities and have consultation with the residents on wht they truly need.

Her flagship program "Angat Buhay" helps to facilitate partenrship between local governments and different stakeholders addressing poverty.

The office of the vice president provide assistance in areas such as rural development, feeding and nutrition programs, livelihood, medical and dental missions, and educational infrastructure through its partners from the private sector.

“Because our office has no funds for projects, we rely on partners to help us whenever we go to communities,” Robredo said.

At present, there are 134 local government units and over 300 partners in the program.

“This is just the beginning. There are still so many who need our help,” Vice Presidential spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said.

Hernandez, also the head of OVP’s Advocacy and Anti-Poverty programs, added: “We are not stopping until we have effectively raised the quality of living of our fellow Filipinos from the farthest and poorest communities in the country.”
