WATCH: Farmer's son to enter Harvard for his college education

It is indeed true that poverty is not a hindrance to success as a farmer's son proves the said cliche as he will enter Harvard University for his tertiary education.

Romnick Blanco, seventh out of 9 children from Bulacan, used his family's situation as an inspiration to strive and study harder.

As a farmer and housekeeper son, Blanco walked from his home to school for two hours, barefooted. He is braving the Sierra Madre hills everyday to gain knowledge.

All of his sacrifices were paid off after he was chosen to be one of the beneficiaries of full scholarship grant in Harvard University. This university is known to produce the top and famous people in the world such as Microsoft Founder Bill Gates and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

According to Romnick, he received a letter from Harvard saying he has been awarded with full scholarship. Aside from this, they will also cover his accomodation, plane tickets, and clothing allowance as mentioned by International School Manila, one of the linked educational institutions to Harvard.

"This amazing blessing that I have received will be looked upon by many as an achievement, but if I were to be very honest, I believe that what happened to me was nothing short of a miracle," said Romnick.

The Harvard scholar also said he was inspired to do good since his other siblings specially the older ones were not able to finish their studies.

Romnick is set to enter Harvard in 2018.
